Christmas is around the corner!
So Christmas (Navidad) is just around the corner!
However, it doesn’t quite feel like Christmas time here quite yet. Why?
1) It’s soooo hot! Where’s the snow?
2) The house doesn’t smell like fresh pine needles. I guess the box doesn’t have a Christmas tree scented air freshener in it…
3) There are no Christmas cookies! I’m going to fix that!
)
4) I don’t see any Christmas knickknacks around the house. Although our wreath is nice!
5) I can’t walk (or drive) to see houses decorated with Christmas lights and toys in the front yard / windows. Dang electricity being so expensive.
6) Christmas music in Spanish just isn’t the same! Nor are the movies…
and… most of all…
7) I’m not around my family for the holidays!
However, I’ve heard that Christmas Eve and Christmas day are a blast here – people in the streets celebrating, singing, dancing. I´ve heard that there are piñatas and really good food! I´ve heard that everyone is happy / joyful.
I guess they´re saving the hype for the real thing! I´m excited to experience Christmas Nicaraguan style! I´ll keep you updated…
*** MERRY CHRISTMAS!! FELIZ NAVIDAD!! ***
