Hurricane Matthew!

The headlines read: “Hurricán Matthew nos perdonó” (Rough translation: Hurricane Matthew was forgiving to us). The hurricane went north of us hitting just one Nicaraguan town in on the Northeast coast of Nicaragua and then it headed towards Honduras. This doesn’t mean we haven’t seen any affects of it, though. The rain has been crazy here the last few days. Practically no sunshine + bursts of downpour. Yesterday wasn’t so bad – just cold and rainy off and on all day. Today has been miserable – constant rain all day, most of which has come down in sheets! We’ve had to keep the doors and windows closed most of the day (very weird here!) because the rain is coming in the house. The back of our house is a series of puddles and a river flows from one end to the other. The streets are barely driveable and few people are outside. The sky is grey and I haven’t seen sun all day. It’s kind of sad. Can’t wait for this to pass…
