Against all odds the Peace Corps is sending me to Nicaragua - The Land of Lakes + Volcanoes. This blog will take you alongside my adventure, my service, my life. Enjoy!

Today is July 31st… exactly 1 month until I leave for Nicaragua… well “Staging.” “Staging” is a mini-orientation where all Peace Corps volunteers going to Nicaragua meet, get to know one another, sign-in, and get acquainted with the Peace Corps before we head out. Should be fun! We leave for Nicaragua the following day… hotel check out time is 2:30am for our flight at 7:20am!

I’m still not sure if it’s really sunk in yet that I’m leaving for Nicaragua in just 1 month for 26.5 months. I just finished work yesterday + got home (Cleveland) last night. I guess I just haven’t really had time to really think about it yet. Nor have I thought about packing obviously. Sometime soon I’ll break out the suggested packing list + determine how closely I want to follow it.  I heard I only get 80 lbs. of luggage!!!

This month I have to: go shopping, pack, give blood, get the H1N1 shot, do my PC homework (read about 60 PDF pgs + take 2 quizzes), + say goodbye to everyone.

I think the reality of the situation will hit hard SOON as I start to pack + the time gets closer… 1 month + counting!
